8 Best Video Game Endings You Can't Get On A First Playthrough
4. Promise Ending - Fatal Frame 2
There are very few things that you can say in life as being dead certainties, but I can with full confidence say that utterly nobody got the Promise Ending for Fatal Frame 2 on their first run through this rather exceptional horror title and can do so for two pretty big reasons.
The first is because the Promise Ending, which sees our protagonist pair of sisters able to both complete a ritual to save a village they are trapped in but also get out the other side alive and kicking is only unlocked by completing the game on Nightmare difficulty, something which you literally don't even have access to the first time around.
The second is because this is an ending that was only included on the XBOX releases of the game which game many months after the original Japanese horror titled had launched. The ending was apparently included because all of the other final scenarios were too bloody bleak, which is pretty much the franchises biggest gimmick, nearly always having the worst ending actually be the cannon one.
Still, for original Xbox users, the best and most upbeat ending in the game was there to grab, if they could make it through this substantial challenge.
