Discussing the look of the GameCube with my so called ‘friends’ always results in the same outcome – ‘I preferred the Xbox’s graphics’. While this is all well and good, the Xbox was an impressive console in its time, and a console is far more than its display capabilities.

The ugly, misshapen black boxes that adorned so many TV stands throughout the noughties really needed to be covered with something to avoid offending my eyes – not a problem with Nintendo’s lunchbox-esque cube of gaming genius.

The Gamecube still looks modern and still takes pride of place next to my current gen consoles. It is a true finished article with or without the add-ons and brought a whole new appreciation of Purple to my household.
