8 Big Reasons To Re-Invest In A Nintendo GameCube

3. Leaving Mario Behind

There were some great Super Mario titles for the Gamecube, most notably Sunshine and Paper Mario 2 but Nintendo made one of its boldest decisions with the Gamecube – putting Mario on the back burner where he belongs.

I haven’t enjoyed a single Mario title as much as Super Mario 64 and that’s unlikely to change no matter how many Nintendo release – you can play football, tennis, golf, party and race as Nintendo’s mascot but why would you want to?

The Gamecube thrust characters you wouldn’t have expected into the limelight: Luigi took on a ghostly mansion, Link crossed the seas and battled darkness itself, Sonic discovered his Shadow counterpart, Animal Crossing finally made sense and don’t get me started on Captain Olimar – Nintendo’s all about Mario? I think not.
