8 Bold Predictions For PS4, Xbox One & Nintendo Switch In 2018
1. A Second Switch Model Is Announced
Even right now, there are enough fixes and small bugbears that an iterative "half step system" could improve with the Switch. Not saying Nintendo should, but they are there - longer battery life, a sturdier screen and Joy-Con de-sync issues being three of the biggest, for example.
That said, the Switch's hybrid, "half console, half handheld" status is unique for Nintendo's release cycle too. Usually for their handhelds they start gearing up for multiple new SKUs every couple of years, meaning if the Switch is being treated similarly, there'll be a "Switch XL" (or whatever) advertised towards the close of 2018.
I know it seems ridiculous, but as the "New 3DS" proved, Nintendo don't hold back on newer iterations of systems being functionally better, either. It's a fine line to walk between iteration and not peeing off the loyalists who supported the Switch from day one, but at the end of the day, well, just look at Nintendo's track record.
