8 Details That Will Make Resident Evil 7 Truly Terrifying
4. The House Itself
Putting the "resident" back in Resident Evil 7, the Baker household is a major feature of the game.
Considering the neglected, filthy aesthetic of the main house, as well as the rest of the Baker compound, Resident Evil 7's environments look just as unsettling as the residents within.
The house manages to have a strong visual identity of it's own, while also serving as a nostalgic throwback to the original game's Spencer mansion. As well as the look of the house, there's also a mechanical similarity to older Resi titles through the use of the series' once-trademark ridiculous door/lock combinations.
Further throwbacks to previous titles includes the valve handle seen in the Beginning Hour demo's Midnight update, and we'll possibly see one within the main game too, continuing the series long-running gag of a valve handle being used to progress within every Capcom-made Resident Evil game to date.
