8 Developers That Got Away With Selling You The Same Video Game Twice
6. Just Cause 3 (Avalanche)
Remember Just Cause 3? For as much as part two was a phenomenally fun archaic experience built on blowing up half of Panau, going into JC3 we were fully expecting a next-gen debut to take full advantage of the new consoles' firepower.
Sadly, at launch Just Cause 3 was a frame rate-addled mess; though this quickly put into stark contrast just how similar it felt to Just Cause 2. Thankfully we now had a wingsuit for Rico to launch himself out of planes and soar across the landscape, but aside from that and a handful of individual jet-boosting mines you could place wherever you like, it was business as usual.
The same busted driving physics, the same approach to combat scenarios and the same sandbox-feeling mission structures that fell on the wrong side of 'open ended'. Just Cause 3 would get exponentially better over time, but the fact remains: Its core feel was far too similar.
