8 Developers That Got Away With Selling You The Same Video Game Twice
5. Crackdown 2 (Microsoft)
Speaking of wingsuits, how about you sell a game that being the only meaningful addition?
The first Crackdown was a phenomenal, easy to play superhero-powered experience. Yes, you can say its popularity boiled down to being the only standout first-party 360 exclusive, but when you were pinging cars off gangsters, hoovering up agility orbs and leaping tall buildings in a single bound, that all felt pretty damn special.
So special in fact, Crackdown 2 decided to release 99% of the first one all over again. With a wingsuit. And zombies.
Together they gave us precisely ONE new way to traverse what was still the same city as the original with a few remodelled areas, and precisely ONE new 'type' of enemy to gun down.
Needless to say, Crackdown 2 was so half-baked and so ill-received it would take years for Microsoft to greenlight another instalment - though even that feels like it's being sent out to die, as once again there's very little to discern it being a numbered entry.
