8 Developers That Got Away With Selling You The Same Video Game Twice
2. Far Cry 4 & Far Cry Primal
Another from Ubisoft - and this is regrettably included as Far Cry 4 is still a fantastic game - the first game to capitalise on Far Cry 3's runaway success ostensibly opted to mirror it entirely.
Once again we opened with a 'quirky' madcap, monologuing villain, before segueing into much the same-feeling gameplay as before. The much-advertised Himalayan mountainside that propped up the game's marketing and looked to be enough of a departure from FC3's jungles was resigned to a corner of the map, whilst the rest of the base game didn't do anywhere near enough to differentiate.
Worse still, come time for Far Cry Primal, Ubisoft were quickly chastised for using the same map as Far Cry 4, albeit giving everything a Stone Age makeover.
Thankfully, Far Cry's gameplay remains stellar and one of the most quality-tested of all Ubisoft's output - it's just a shame we've now played the same thing three times in a row.
