8 Essential Tom Clancy Series Features That Completely Changed The Gaming World

8. Hug The Wall

Hug The Wall The one feature I truly miss when playing other shooters. Being able to take cover behind certain walls or boxes really makes for realistic combat gameplay and it is a consistently useful feature across all the Clancy games. In Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon, you can take cover in open fire fights, allowing you to lean out and shoot while enemies are reloading. In Splinter Cell, it can be used either in gun fights, or to creep round in the shadows as close to the walls as possible and to look round corners to make sure the way is clear. The developers at Ubisoft have even added flare by allowing players to take down enemies whilst in cover in Splinter Cell: Black List. Screw just plain crouching COD style - I€™m hugging the wall all the way.

7. €˜Psst€ Hey!€™

Psst Hey Come on, how cool is this? It€™s the tiniest feature but it adds that extra bit of realism to the game. These guys CAN hear you and WILL come to investigate any noise you make. They aren€™t just AI dummies. A feature that briefly disappeared in the middle of the franchise but has since reappeared in Black List, the ability to whisper or whistle in order to distract nearby tangos is not only a useful tool but let€™s face it, it€™s like playing a grown up game of Marco Polo but when they find you, you kick their tails. Like lambs to the slaughter.
