8 Essential Tom Clancy Series Features That Completely Changed The Gaming World

2. GHOST/PANTHER/ASSAULT

Panther Okay, so this feature is only in the latest Splinter Cell instalment, but it honours what Conviction was trying to achieve and is an excellent feature that successfully acknowledges we all have our own notions about how to play Splinter Cell. Because Conviction appeared to completely abandon the idea of stealth and the preliminary trailers for Blacklist suggested it was going down the same path, there was uproar from the fans (I particularly suggest you type €˜Hitler€™s reaction to Blacklist€™ into youtube if you want a giggle.) And so Ubisoft listened and responded - magnificently. The idea is that you choose your play style for each level in each game mode and the more loyal you are to that style, the more cash you get on completion. If you get enough, you will €˜master€™ that style and get achievements along the way. So if you want to creep through the level, leaving no trace, then you will master GHOST. If you want to stalk your enemies and take them out whilst remaining undetected you€™ll master PANTHER and if you want to go in all guns blazing then ASSAULT is the style for you. This really is a great feature that keeps all players happy as, unlike in Conviction, there is a clear-cut distinction and you are rewarded for the way YOU want to play the game. Not only that but it creates challenging €˜replayability€™ options, as you will find yourself wanting to master every play style in campaign and the subsidiary 4E missions as well. Addictive, to say the least. Let€™s hope they keep it in the future of the franchise. So, what was the greatest gaming feature from Tom Clancy games that changed the gaming world the most?
