Kicking ass as a tall haired witch on your bucket list? Well fear not friend as I’ve got the exact game for you. Sega’s Bayonetta which, as you might expect from spectacle fighter masters Platinum Games is a brilliant combination of over the top action and bizarre storytelling.

The combat is as tight as Bayonetta's hair suit, and you’ll probably find yourself blazing through the game in just a few sittings because of how addictive the overall gameplay is, and so you might find it a bit disappointing that once the final boss is beaten that things seem to end on a bit of a depressing note.

As the husk of the giant falls towards Earth, Bayonetta takes a knee and seems to accept her fate, that while she defeated the beast she will still crash into the Earth and destroy it, thereby changing nothing. The credits begin to roll and a tear might even form in your very eye.

Well scratch that, as there’s more ass kicking to be done.

The game fakes out the downer ending in order to have the arrival of Jeanne and the final boss encounter all that much more powerful. And thank god they did, because that ending was so much more satisfying as a result. Thank you, TedRedDeadDemption for that!
