8 Forgotten Video Games That Should Be Revived

Last Release - SSX (2012)

With SSX, EA managed to create an almost perfect arcade-style snowboarding game, mixing race events with trick-focused mechanics in the vein of the once-mighty Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series (how the mighty have fallen on that front).

The original was a solid enough PS2 launch title, but it was SSX Tricky that really made people take notice, offering seemingly endless hours of addictive gameplay. The subsequent SSX3 was then arguably the game's pinnacle, offering an open-world experience that mixed events and exploration.

The final PS2 title, On Tour, added skiing to the mix, but what should've been a fantastic addition ended up being somewhat underwhelming as the series then died a death for several years, with just the Wii-exclusive SSX Blur appearing on store shelves across a seven year period.

The 2012 revival was a critical and commercial success, so it's somewhat bizarre that it hasn't been followed up on over the last five years, particularly now that Ubisoft have entered the fray with Steep, which mixes snowboarding, skiing, wingsuiting and paragliding. EA's priorities are seeming elsewhere, given that they haven't released any extreme sports titles in some time (SSX's 'sister series' Skate hasn't seen a release since 2010 for instance), but here's to remaining optimistic that they rise to the challenge of their competitors sooner rather than later.
