8 Game Franchises That Deserve To Be Rebooted

3. Fear Effect

Fear effect was a great little game I played on my PSOne: sort of combining Broken Sword style point and click adventure style gameplay with shooting, it was a bit of a mess, but very endearing nonetheless. What was great about it was the story, the characters and the style, and with some very colourful characters and bizarre story turns, the game was as batty as Bruce Wayne and very enjoyable. I think a reboot of the series now would be a grand idea. These sort of interactive movie games have enjoyed a resurgence recently, as we can see with the success of games like L.A. Noire and Heavy Rain etc. The makers of Fear Effect could overhaul the gameplay and really experiment with mixing the elements of shooter and adventure game. I feel like L.A. Noire did this badly, making the game feel more like a series of fragmented sections, and I'd love to see these elements integrated in a more natural and flowing way. And it would be particularly engaging to see it done in a sci-fi horror setting with a new Fear Effect title.

I am primarily a performer, with particular interest in experimental theatre. I'm also trying to write a kids book. I find the idea of interactive storytelling fascinating and I think Computer Games are one of the most important things that have happened, in terms of story telling potential...I just don't think anyone has properly worked out to use them yet.
