Another one for the "remember this?" pile, The Evil Within was actually an incredibly solid game, seeing the legendary Shinji Mikami (whose idea it was to make Resident Evil 4 an over-shoulder shooter) continue his own strand of action-horror. The game even opened in a mist-caked village, your character of Sebastien Castellanos (subtle, I know) hopping between multiple realities as he hunted down the villainous Ruvik.

Proof of the sequel's existence comes from a job posting highlighted on NEOgaf for a project called 'Psycho Break 2'; that being the Japanese title for The Evil Within franchise.

Honestly, the only major issue with the original came from some hating on how closely it stuck to those RE4-inspired roots, so with more deft control and a story that doesn't go quite so insane with OTT manifestations of pure psychological terror, this has all the potential to become a markedly recommendable horror franchise.
