8 Incredibly Weird Stats Video Games Keep Track Of

7. How Many Orphans You've Made - Alpha Protocol

The amount of enemies that a player kills is a very common statistic to track. After all, it's actually bizarrely impressive when you log into the stat menu and see that you've effectively slaughtered the population of Torquay in an afternoon. Don't get me wrong, it's not a GOOD thing you've murdered your way through the English Riviera but still, it's IMPRESSIVE.

However, there are some games that definitely want you to feel bad for the death and destruction you unleash. Take, for example, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, which tracks how many people you've killed and then makes you face each and every one of them again during the boss battle with The Sorrow, which can make for quite the slog if you've an itchy trigger finger.

However, Alpha Protocol goes one step further, as the game doesn't so much track the number of kills you've made, but rather the amount of ORPHANS YOU'VE CREATED. And if these numbers are anything to go by, you've made a LOT of Christmases a whole lot worse through your actions. As Alpha Protocol styles itself as a spy thriller, it's to be expected that the player should try stealth wherever possible, but now you've got even more reason to subdue rather than strangle.
