8 Insane Video Game Events Hardly ANYONE Saw

2. Every Live Event - Fortnite

Fortnite final showdown
Epic

As mentioned in the intro, the sheer size of Fortnite's reach - and the scale of what they're doing - took live events to a whole other level.

Now, obviously the title of this is based around live events that "hardly anyone" saw, but when Fortnite's player base hovers around the 350 million mark, and those who watch these events tend to average around 20-30 million, that's a tenth of everyone actually playing Fortnite checking these things out.

Centred on various story beats coming together for what's usually a season-ending visual spectacle, the first one was a space rocket being launched back in 2018. Since then as I mentioned earlier we've seen all sorts of genuinely impressive, mass-synchronised events, and the results are still worth checking out on Youtube today.

Obviously Fortnite skews younger and it's a cottage industry to Epic all its own, but the developers have made some huge strides towards the future of interactive entertainment. Crystal Dynamics' Avengers will reportedly give you "active crimes" that need stopping in certain districts, all with active time windows for players to respond.

Just imagine playing a multiplayer game and Galactus himself descends from the heavens, at the same time for you as anyone watching around the world on Twitch. Now that, might get more people watching.
