When the N64 dropped its big weighty plastic sack onto the table and pronounced loudly "CHECK OUT THIS HARDWARE" the world over dropped its monocle in shock as truly we were witnessing some grey-clad clout. Gorgeous graphics appeared to be the future thanks to Nintendo's new beast and we all prepared ourselves to see the best the industry could offer.

However, when it came to Gex, the N64 had a total meltdown, offering up a much more inferior version to the PS1 counterpart, to the point where the fanbase has collectively agreed that this iteration of the classic platformer is the worst experience in the series.

For a start, all of the bonus levels were scrapped in this version, as well as a huge amount of dialogue and all of the cutscenes, meaning you won't have a clue as to what's going on in the N64 version apart from it being "Tail Time" apparently.

And what bonus it does offer, an exclusive level based on The Titanic is an utter nightmare! Why? because it's a water level and when have these ever been fun? All of this stips the title of its charm and only highlights its shortcomings.
