What it is: A Spider-Man game, duh.
Marvel may be used to dominating the box office, but it's DC that rules the roost as far as superhero video game adaptations are concerned. Besides a slew of tie-in LEGO titles, the comic book giant has conjured nothing to rival Rocksteady and NetherRealm's Arkham and Injustice series' respectively, but that's all about to change.
Insomniac Games has stepped up to turn those fortunes around with its own spin on the Spider-Man mythos and right now, it's difficult not to get swept up in the whirlwind of hype for the lucrative PS4 exclusive.
Right from the off, Insomniac's made clear how much professional and personal adoration it has for the web-slinging hero, a devotion that nobody will dare question, following the spectacular showcase at last year's E3.
Exactly like Rocksteady's Arkham series, this is an adaptation made with heart that aims to be so much more than a power trip. Obviously, Mr Parker will be spinning webs and creaming goons for a major portion of Spider-Man's runtime, but Insomniac wants to explore his other side - the one without the mask - and the strain that juggling those two lives has on Parker's personal life.
