8 Most Wanted Video Game Remakes (That Would RUIN The Original)

7. Metal Gear Solid

There are an undeniably Great Many who would love to see Metal Gear Solid - one of the most influential and acclaimed video games of all time - given the glossy 4K remake treatment, and indeed, rumours have swirled for years that Konami is actively developing it.

But even accepting that a remake already exists with 2004's The Twin Snakes, this is a much trickier undertaking to get right than it might first appear.

First and foremost, it's incredibly difficult to believe that a remake would retain the original's iconic style - the controls, camerawork, and menu system would likely all be given a significant reworking to accommodate the tastes of modern action fans, and in turn render it a far more conventional, familiar experience.

And above all else, given Hideo Kojima's split from Konami, there's zero chance of Kojima having any involvement with it whatsoever.

Considering the rather polarising response to the upcoming remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, it's probably best to just leave the original alone, especially without Kojima leading the charge.

Replicating the infinitesimal charm of an original product is extremely tricky, and it's tough to believe that modern Konami has it in them to get it right.

Let it remain the weird, wonderfully polygonal beast that it is.
