8 Nintendo Switch Criticisms That Also Apply To The PS4 & Xbox One
2. "No Pack-In Game"
This one is just cold, hard business. I mean, did the PS4 or Xbox One come with a company-mandated free game, despite the sales pitch being either strongly focused on single player or multiplayer? Of course not.
Nintendo gave everyone Wii Sports, because they were completely breaking the mould. They needed the notion of motion controls to work, and took a gamble on how much they'd lose selling a copy with every unit, versus not. On the Switch, there's no such conceptual 'sell' to make, and Nintendo have thus decided to continue with business as usual.
This doesn't excuse the idea of just being kinder to consumers and giving them something to play out the box, but retailers have been quick to offer their own bundle deals regardless, as was the case with the PS4 and Xbox One. Yes, a collection of minigames baked into the system or included as factory standard would've been ideal, but the "no pack in" complaint is just as easily levied at the competition, too.
