I'm pretty sure it's scientifically impossible not to love Def Jam: Fight For New York.

It's a title that oozes with style and confidence, and while it's looking a little ropey in this day and age, still carries a brilliant presentation thanks to its stylized characters and animations. Plus the sheer fact that so many Rap, Hip Hop, and R&B artists provided their likenesses and voices for the project is actually astounding.

Now I know what you're thinking, that with all of these high profile names, big-budget and outstanding reception critically can commercially, how can this be overlooked? Well in short, because the follow-up ICON killed the franchise stone dead, and as such many have forgotten about this classic.

And the feature of this brilliant title that was also overlooked? The crowd interaction! Seriously I've never seen a crowd more integral to the actual fight itself than this! By throwing a fighter into the mob, sometimes the crowd will push them right back into a further beat down, or may sometimes even grab the fighter and hold them in place for you to unleash hell!

Plus, some of the onlookers carry weapons that they'll either offer to you or even use on the enemy another crowd member is holding onto.

It's like having a small army in the wings waiting to help you catch a breath or deal that extra bit of damage, and it makes positioning within the arena even more important than ever!
