While the world over, your nan, and her dog will wax lyrical when it comes to how Spider-Man 2 or Spider-Man on the PS4 gave players true freedom of movement with the incredibly fun web-slinging traversal mechanic, not much is ever said about the wonder that is Gravity Rush and its brilliant solution on how to get from A to B.

As you might expect from the title of the game, Gravity itself plays a huge part in things, as at any time, the player can choose to invert it completely and fling our protagonist Kat into the skies and beyond. This "Falling with style" approach to movement opens up not just a hilarious and exciting way to get around, but also a wealth of combat and puzzle-solving options.

There's quite possibly no better feeling than dropkicking an enemy thanks to an intense gravity shift, nor that feeling of almost chaotic freedom you get from sailing through the air feeling both in control and at the same time, completely not.

It's a gimmick that no other title has touched since in this manner, and it's likely because Gravity Rush invented and perfected it in within the span of two games.
