The Arkham games have always been brilliant examples of the potential superheroes have within the world of video games. Each subsequent sequel has been exceptional in of itself, yet, as we approach the announcement of a fifth entry in the series, it's worth hoping that the franchise will play to the strengths of its strongest entry. As the series progressed, its games became a bit too big for their own good, losing focus and feeling more sluggish as a result.

Arkham Asylum is more than just a solid Batman game; it's a brilliant Metroidvania style action experience that feels intense, tight and purposeful. It's feasible to imagine that you could punch through its 12-hour runtime in one sitting, the superb pacing never trailing off or feeling dull.
A new game in the series would do well to move back to the original's structure, especially seen as this next entry will likely attempt to jumpstart the franchise.
