This is, of course, the biggie. Ever since Spike Lee's affiliation with NBA 2K16 was announced, fans have been clamouring for details of his involvement. If all goes well, he should bring a whole new edge to MyCareer mode, transforming it from a relatively straightforward "story mode" feature of the game into a whole new phenomenon, focusing on the glorious highs and potentially crushing lows of a professional athlete's life. It seems strange for a modern-day sports gaming franchise to focus on an offline mode, especially in the era of FIFA's Ultimate Team global takeover - but with a name as monumental as Spike Lee on board, why not? MyCareer has long been one of 2K's most popular aspects, and should undergo a dramatic improvement under Lee's tutelage. Fears that his inclusion will result in an overly-railroaded storyline can be partially eased by 2K16's slogan. Its urging of players to 'Be The Story' hopefully indicates that MyCareer mode strikes the right balance between Lee's storytelling expertise and the series' characteristic customisation. If everything goes to plan, MyCareer could become the flagship game mode of one of the best basketball games of all time - maybe even the best.
