Try as we might to prioritise gameplay and story, sometimes you just can't beat a giant, visually arresting spectacle to knock you for six.

Luckily, Ratchet & Clank knows this, and no sooner have you picked up your wrench and are smashing through a number of crates, that a gorgeous planetscape unfolds in front of you.

It's a trick R&C plays multiple times - or rather, every time you touch down on a new planet. The older games would do this too, but upon landing on somewhere uncharted, the camera will start panned way back, letting you drink in the mood and atmosphere of the place you're about to venture into.

Planets range from bustling intergalactic cities to lava-belching volcano rock formations - there's as much variety as their is artistic flourish in their design, which extends to charm in every character model. It's truly a visual showcase, and for spectacle alone, is completely unmatched.
