8 Reasons Why Video Games Are Art

5. Auteurship

Fable 2 Alongside the increased size of development studios and the emergence of video games as a medium some younger teams have grown up with, games have developed a sense of auteurship, whereby we are able to identify a game based on a particular screenwriter or development studio. Rockstar games such as Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption or even Bully are easily identified as their own, as are Naughty Dog games with their trademark level of polish and animation. That€™s not to mention the swathe of memorable figures such as Peter Molyneux, Jonathon Blow, David Cage and Ken Levine etc. that have emerged over the past few years, lending even more weight to the fact that individuals with great creative visions can exist in gaming just as in music, film or books.
