8. Stay Out Of The Public Eye
Ironically, Rockstar games might be the most publicized developers out there. Every news outlet talks about and shows Grand Theft Auto in any discussion about violent video games. Ask your non-gamer friends and parents anything about video games, they will most likely know nothing about them, but will immediately recognize the mention of the three little words- Grand Theft Auto. However, in the gaming world, Rockstar Games is hardly ever heard from. Other than the big Grand Theft Auto IV reveal at E3 in 2006, you don't here much from Rockstar. Sure they show up at conventions like PAX, but their presence isn't publicized. Mostly due to the fact that their booths often aren't playable, and they don't have their most well known company developers there to give the journalists a closed door preview. Sure, it may be a little disappointing for those of us who want to know the inside process to the great minds who produce some of our favorite games, but this honestly isn't a bad thing. How many gameplay previews, hands-on demos, and developer interviews do you see that get you so hyped...but the final product lets you down. Rockstar Games almost leaves you in the dark about their upcoming releases. Sure, there is hype, especially concerning Grand Theft Auto, but how much do you really know about GTA V right now? (Besides the useless speculation that floods the internet everyday.) I'm guessing the answer is not much. The point in keeping all this information to themselves is that there is less chance of the gaming world being disappointed, because let's be honest, we get real disappointed sometimes. In a way, by not knowing anything about the games, it almost makes them better. Other games show off all their best scenes in trailers and gameplay demos, once you finally get your hands on them they aren't as epic as the game developers and trailers try to pass off. By keeping fans in the dark, and not throwing their products in every gaming conference and convention, it leaves more to the mind of the gamer. For me, knowing almost nothing about the game almost always makes it more anticipated on my list...(well, when it is developed by Rockstar.)
