6. Not (Only) About The Money
Obviously, when making and most importantly selling a game, it becomes all about money. There is no doubt in my mind that especially the heads over at Rockstar Games have enough money to wrap the Earth twice over. However, with the way their IP's are branded, and with how well they sell, these developers could make enough money to wrap the Earth twelve times over. The Grand Theft Auto franchise has been around for 16 years now. With its humble beginnings in 1997, to revolutionizing gaming in 2001 with GTA III, and exploding onto the next gen consoles with GTA IV in 2008, blowing the minds of fans and critics alike. Yet, unlike the Call of Duty series, and more recently the Assassins Creed series, they won't release their top franchise annually. Because they respect their products, and the fans buying them, (and lets face it, they probably make enough money off one game every five years to last another five years until the next game.) Rockstar, and their publisher Take-Two Interactive could very easily decide they want a new GTA game every year, yet they refrain. Their focus is to release the best possible product to their loyal customers. In the end, a great well-developed game might not get as much money, but it will certainly get more hype and respect than one released every year.
