8 Reasons Why We're Still Playing Dead Island

6. Collectible ID Cards, Tape Recordings, and Newspapers I don't think I have ever been as obsessive about collecting ID Cards in my life. Granted, I'm usually searching for mine misplacing it in who knows where, but this collectible felt different for me. Color me undead but it felt meaningful in a way because hundreds of people were just converted into the mindless, flesh seeking undead, the least I could do is collect their ID cards. I mean somebody is going to have to a head count at some point. Who's missing? Who died? Who's still searching for flesh? These are all viable questions that will need to be answered by the police, and maybe my seemingly pointless task of collecting ID Cards will be worth it in the end. In addition, players were able to collect newspaper clippings and tape recordings, that helped to uncover a little bit more about the story. I mean, if anything you could always paste the clippings on the wall while playing the recordings, and then laying the ID Cards creepily around me. After what you just survived, you'd probably go a little bit crazy.
