8 Reasons Why We're Still Playing Dead Island

4. Brutal Dismemberment Insert maniacal laugh...here. There's something about gore in games that captivates audiences...or disgusts them. But for the kind of gamers that seek out titles like Dead Island, it's surely the captivation aspect. Brutally detailed dismemberment is definitely a defining characteristic of Dead Island. Chunks of flesh can rip away from the undead as you bash, slice, shoot, and stab your way through the hordes. A clean slice from that beefed up machete can slice clean through that arm, and it certainly doesn't include rainbows and butterflies shooting out of the stump. I'm looking at you Lollipop Chainsaw. Not only can enemies limbs be hacked off, but you can even break em'. This results in a hilarious display of flailing limbs, and there's nothing quite like watching a zombie charge at you with two broken arms gently flapping about in the wind. Oh Dead Island, you know how to treat us well.
