8 Reasons You Should Be Playing World Of Warcraft Classic
5. Immersion
The less convoluted nature of Classic's lore has a side-effect that Blizzard probably wasn't anticipating: with the game's story easier to digest, Classic makes for a far more immersive experience than its contemporary counterpart.
This is for a number of reasons. The slower pace of gameplay allows players more time to explore and appreciate the world they're a part of, instead of speeding through each area in a matter of hours as is the norm in the game's retail version.
Spending more time with your character also gives you a greater understanding of how best to utilize each of their abilities, and the nuances of playing each class unfold in a slower, more palatable manner.
The game's difficulty also makes the whole experience feel more organic: after all, in a world where everything wants to kill you, it should feel difficult, and retail's lax attitude towards difficulty doesn't lend the right air to the world our characters inhabit.
While the days of Goldshire being inundated with casual role-players are long gone, Classic still offers a level of immersion far superior to its modern twin.
