6. A Musical Chairs Boss Battle - No More Heroes 3

It may well have served me better to have just gestured to an image of Suda51 and just said "I mean c'mon" when expressing just how many times The No More Heroes franchise has utterly messed with and then blown apart players' minds over the years, but it seems that in the trilogy capping experience that is NMH3, Grasshopper Manufacture and it's deviant auteur director really wanted to utterly obliterate gamer expectations.

For you see, the Travis Touchdown starring series is well known for its boss battles, and as such became a facet that fans just couldn't wait to get their hands on in the long-awaited threequel, so of course, Suda and his team took that desire and anticipation and said "ok but what if it was musical chairs?"

That's right, in this game of super-powered villains and off-the-wall characters, you are tasked with defeating a boss through the medium of a children's party game. In the "battle" against Velvet Chair Girl, you'll need to hit button prompts to avoid losing your balance and in turn, losing your life when a little squid disintegrates you with a laser beam (in case things weren't weird enough already), and yet the contest only becomes more strange once you win.

Players, once again expecting a regular boss fight after Travis knocks Velvet Chair Girl off her throne were once again left stunned as in response to her loss, VCG kills herself and instead leaves the fight to her pet squid. If you began that fight too stunned to move we wouldn't blame you as this is an oddity on another level.
