8 Recent Video Game Moments That Literally Blew Your Mind
4. The New Content - The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe
How can you talk about mind-blowing moments in video games and not instantly think of the wonderfully weird The Stanley Parable, which thanks to a fresh new "Ultra Deluxe" package hitting stores recently, now has even more scenarios that have been surgically crafted to give you an out-of-body experience.
Now while I could detail some of the more insane and downright creepy extra endings this game has added in, or speak about how utterly ridiculous the secret disco party is, the best mind-blowing moment actually comes from the "New Content" ending which ironically is the least mind-blowing moment of the game.
I know that sounds odd, but then again so is this.
Upon playing through the game a few times, suddenly you'll find a new door labeled "New Content" and upon exploring this new selection of hallways you'll be treated to a guided tour through the making and subsequent success of The Stanley Parable itself. Then you'll be taken to a brand new area which allows you to, finally after years of waiting, actually JUMP.
However what's truly brain-breaking about this is just how much the Narrator hates how little effort has gone into this section, lamenting that after all this time all they could rustle up was a jump button and a boring tour. And you know what? He's not wrong!
It's utterly deflating to go through this and come out the other side with next to nothing, but at the same time what did you expect? This is a game built around defying your wills and wants at every turn, thus making even a boring inclusion of nothing, feel like something very in keeping with the tone of the title.
