8 SEVERELY Underused Locations In Video Games
5. Cabin In The Woods
It may be the most overwrought setting in horror movies, but the fabled cabin in the woods is rarely seen in video games.
Of course, games like Friday the 13th and Until Dawn, take place directly in the iconic cabin in the woods, but precious few horror games choose to tackle the setting, instead opting for haunted houses and asylums.
There's a reason why forests are used as the setting of so many horror movies; they're dark, huge yet claustrophobic, and often mysterious. It's a perfect setting for a scary video game, and the cabin could act as your safe hub to return to, until of course, it's no longer safe at all. Sure, it might be difficult for a AAA game to take place in such a small setting, but a shorter indie title akin to Firewatch would be just right.
