8 SEVERELY Underused Locations In Video Games
4. Vietnam
World War II has been the setting of probably more than half of all war games in history. Yet one of the most interesting and brutal wars of all-time, Vietnam, remains underutilised.
Yes, there are several dozen video games set during the infamous Vietnam War, but precious few have been AAA titles, and even less in the past decade. The most obvious examples of Vietnam in gaming are Call of Duty: World at War, and the recent Far Cry 5 expansion.
No game has ever really captured the horror and claustrophobia of the guerrilla warfare that took place in the vast jungles of Vietnam, nor has any prominent video game ever attempted to address the political and social backlash against the Vietnam War. It was the first war in history to have journalists covering it live and on the field, and, as such, the photos and stories being sent back to the States caused outrage amongst the public. Not to mention, it's a war the U.S did not win. If that isn't worth exploring in a game, what is?
