8 Star Wars Video Game Franchises EA Should Reboot

7. The Force Unleashed

Republic Commando
LucasArts

They're far from the finest single-player Star Wars games, but not since Starkiller's two-part story concluded has there been a more promising video game addition to the franchise's expanded universe. Compelling storytelling and a smart script detailing the life of Vader's secret apprentice from cradle to grave - and bridging the gap between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope - was the original Force Unleashed's strongest asset, but not its only well-received aspect.

Delivering on the power fantasy of playing as a Jedi at the height of their power is a gameplay element both games nailed to a T, though the sequel's cheap fan service pandering somewhat sullied Starkiller's tragic story. The latter matters little now, of course, given Disney's mass retcon of all extended universe material released under LucasFilm, but that's no excuse not to salvage the fantastic gameplay executed by LucasArts.

Any potential sequel would have to be non-canon, but that's not an issue. Both the original games had secret 'what if?' scenarios built in. Using either as a start point for an alternate universe tale is the perfect excuse to bring Starkiller and his morally-torn concience back to life.
