8 TERRIBLE Video Game Box Arts That Made You Avoid AMAZING Games
5. Mega Man 2

Oh, Mega Man 2, a game whose non-Japanese cover art is so unconscionably awful it feels like an act of intentional sabotage.
Though the Japanese cover actually features Mega Man as we all know him, the North American box art inexplicably features an excessively thicc drawing of Mega Man firing off a... pistol, rather than his signature Mega Buster.
According to the cover's illustrator Marc Ericksen, this occurred because Capcom simply told him to draw Mega Man with a pistol, though provided no further guidance.
But the North American cover seems positively on-the-money compared to the utterly deranged European art pictured above, which renders Mega Man in a wholly inaccurate outfit that resembles cheap tinfoil, while presenting enemies and locations that don't really have anything to do with the game at all.
It's almost painful to look at, though is so wrong in every fiber of its being that it endures as a sort of fascinating, can't-look-away gaming artefact we'd miss if it didn't exist.
