8 Things Nobody Wants To Admit About Battlefield 1
7. There's No Trench Warfare
One of the biggest disappointments in DICE's latest release is the severe lack of combat engagements in WW1 trenches. The frantic rush through these tight, nightmarish corridors could have provided brilliant choke-points in many of the game's mutiplayer maps, yet they're strangely absent in every mode other than Operations.
And even then, although Operations almost gets it right, the horrors of trench warfare are always pushed aside in favour of the same old skirmishes you could find in any other Battlefield game released in the past ten years.
Hell, even in the campaign, which attempts to be a more faithful depiction of the first World War, there's only about two instances where you're actually fighting as part of a large assault or making your way through No Man's Land.
I get that executing this type of warfare would have been difficult to pull off (and even more difficult to make fun), but if you're going to choose WW1 as a setting, then you've got to find a way to make it work somehow.
