8 Things Nobody Wants To Admit About God Of War

7. It's Lacking True Boss Fights

The first real boss fight in God of War is breathtaking. Going toe to toe with an actual god, Kratos fending off the near-invulnerable Baldur offers such a spectacular bout that at times you'll no doubt forget you're actually in control, and not simply watching a cinematic.

Unfortunately, that first fight sets a bar the rest of the game can't live up to. Sure, you still battle some pretty imposing beasts and are thrown into some explosive set pieces as the title progresses, but a lot of these are simply re-skinned enemies you've fought before, that rely on the same tactics you'd use for any other enemies.

There are boss battles on the level of that inaugural fight to the death with Baldur, but they're surprisingly few and far between. When they do arrive it's with a bang, but you're forced to fight through repetitive sections before you get to those truly awe-inspiring fights the series made its name on.
