8 Things Nobody Wants To Admit About God Of War

1. Niflheim Is A Slog

Though it's impressive at all that Sony Santa Monica thought about keeping players engaged once the main story was over, God of War's endgame doesn't offer the robust experience many expected.

The bulk of it is concerned with the maze of Niflheim, which requires an entirely new set of skills and currencies to succeed in. With a timer that ticks down until your death and a new upgrading material in mist echoes, you're tasked with grinding in the semi procedurally-generated "maze" until you have enough currency to open and beat the tears at the heart of it.

It's a great idea in theory, as the maze's ever-changing set up could have resulted in a fresh experience every time you stepped foot in it. Unfortunately though, it's only the traps themselves which change, and because they don't pose much of a problem in the first place, the whole area becomes easy to get a pin on.

After two runs you'll know where everything is and what to expect, which makes grinding through the maze over and over again a really repetitive slog.

It ends the game on a sour note, lumping you in an area which lacks the creativity and polish that made the rest of the experience so compelling.
