8 Things We Dearly Miss About The Original Splinter Cell Trilogy

7. Spies Versus Mercenaries

Multiplayer is a given with franchises today and some would say it's a requirement. However, when Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow launched with a multiplayer mode it came as a surprise.

There were two teams in each game. One of the spies who sneaked, climbed and flash-banged their way to objectives. Secondly a team of mercenaries that were armed to the teeth and played in first-person.

Spies had extra awareness thanks to their third-person perspective, but the Mercs had an increased health pool, and an assault rifle that can put others down quickly.

The repertoire for either side was improved on in Chaos Theory too which made it even more fun.

Each team had distinct advantages and weaknesses that complemented each other perfectly. Crucially though, the very high skill ceilings for both sides kept players engaged.

All in all, each match was a tense game of cat and mouse making for an experience that's seared into the memory of anyone who played it.
