8 Things We Dearly Miss About The Original Splinter Cell Trilogy

6. The UI

More recent iterations on the stealth formula have done away with the traditional user interface. They've been ditched recently, in favour of immersive approaches to heads up displays, with information often being displayed in-game.

The problem with these immersive HUDs is they can lead to key information, that's essential to fair and enjoyable gameplay, being badly broadcast at times. This is a major problem in any game but crippling in stealth games.

Thankfully, the original Splinter Cell trilogy expands and perfects its HUD brilliantly.

During Chaos Theory the player is told all they need to know at all times. With how visible you are, and how much noise you're making constantly being on the screen.

These games tell you exactly how likely you are to be shot at in a no-nonsense fashion while guaranteeing that they're playable by almost anyone.
