8 Things You NEED To Know About AEW’s Video Games

6. Early Footage Has A Distinct Retro Look

AEW's first fully-fledged title looks like it might avoid following 2K's lead.

Character models appear to be inflated more than picture-perfect recreations, but early footage suggests Yuke's aren't going too far with this - the in-game action that was shown during the presser was caught between WWE 2K, All-Stars and the recent Battlegrounds style. That's not a bad thing.

Omega looked muscular and defined, and they avoided senselessly pretending that Chris Jericho still looks like he did in 2000. It's promising that the latter looks visibly older than his peer, and it's even more encouraging that characters move with a zip and quickness fans have come to expect from AEW's in-ring style.

Physiques have a blocky enough appeal without being overtly-cartoonish. If Yuke's can fine tune early models and perhaps bring a little more hi-res feel to hair and eyes (which, in these early builds, still look dead and emotionless), they'll be onto something special.
