8 ULTRA Rare Video Game Items You’ll Never Own

7. Alistair Overeem - UFC Undisputed 3

In the fairly small amount of UFC games to date, Yuke's trying their hand at a more visceral combat model worked a treat. The devs had turned in genuinely treasured titles like Smackdown: Here Comes the Pain and other beloved sports games across the 2000s, and with THQ at the helm, the Undisputed series was set to embark on another hot streak.

Then, THQ went under, and with EA stepping in to obtain the rights for official UFC games, not even the revived THQ Nordic can do anything about it.

A casualty of this entire process is Undisputed 3's inclusion of Alistair Overeem, the mighty kickboxing champion who was making his debut in that game. An unnecessarily annoying way to drive social media numbers, Overeem's playability was locked behind sharing the game's Facebook page with two friends, then waiting for a code to be sent across.

THQ's Danny Bilson said the whole process was meant to "reward" fans, and said that "access to a fighter like Alistair Overeem is an invaluable opportunity for everyone involved."

Well, yes, so why not just put him in the game, or the second you got wind that things were going south?

Instead, as THQ went belly up, there's no way to play as Overeem in what is otherwise to this day, one of the best UFC games of all time.
