Batman: Arkham Origins released in 2013 to bridge the gap between Arkham City and Arkham Knight. The game wasn't developed by lauded developer Rocksteady Studios, instead it was Warner Bros. Montreal who crafted the Batman prequel story. Origins was a great video game that was unfairly thrown to the side for playing things a little too safe, and for not being made by Rocksteady.

However, if countless rumours are to be believed, the guys and gals at Montreal are going to get another swing at Bats. Following Origins, Warner Bros. were said to be working on a handful of different Arkham universe games, but Arkham Insurgency would be a direct sequel to Origins but still before Asylum.

The story is said to focus on The Court of Owls, a relatively new Batman villain from the Scott Snyder New 52 Batman run. Also said to be in Insurgency is a swathe of other villains, the original Batmobile, the return of the Joker, and a greater emphasis on the relationship between Batman and Robin. It's been three years since Arkham Knight, so the time is ripe for another dip back into Gotham, and there's every reason to believe it could be the best one yet!
