8 Upcoming Superhero Games That Could Be The Next Batman: Arkham

2. Avengers Project

The only other Marvel project known to be in active development is also perhaps the most exciting.

Marvel and Square Enix announced The Avengers Project a year and a half ago, and since then we haven't seen as much as a screenshot. Crystal Dynamics, the team behind the rebooted Tomb Raider series, has been working hard on this title for some time now but details are scarce. What few details are known however, suggest that the game will be something of a Marvel Ultimate Alliance reboot.

More specifically, the game will be an online third-person action game, that uses cover combat system. While it's difficult to imagine why an Avengers game would need to use cover-based combat, it's still an exciting prospect, and many more long for a new Ultimate Alliance game too.

What is truly encouraging though is how quiet and patient Square Enix is being with this one. There's no need to rush the development of this highly-anticipated game, and it could very well be a cross-platform title. Look for an official trailer to pop-up sometime in the next eight months and we'll know exactly what we're in for!
