8 Video Game Bosses That Subtly Told You How To Beat Them

6. Lavender Town (Escape From Lavender Town)

While Escape From Lavender Town doesn't contain any boss fights in the traditional sense, the town itself is basically a giant boss puzzle that you have to solve, with the whole point of the game being - as the title suggests - to escape from Lavender Town.

And, at first, the solution to this puzzle is far from obvious.

You're left to wander around the town, interacting with a couple of NPCs and reading a few signs (neither of which will prove helpful in the slightest), but nothing you do seems to get you any closer to escaping, with dead-end buildings and inaccessible pathways at the edge of the screen instilling a sense of futility in your escape efforts.

But brilliantly, the clue is in the title: "escape". Simply give the ESC key a tap and you'll be able to finish the game. You can do this at any time, so you don't even have to waste time wandering around like a headless chicken looking for answers. Which, by the game's design, you will otherwise end up doing.

In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
