Every Dark Souls player worth their soapstone knows of the true power of summons. While some might mock others for using this built-in mechanic, there truly is no greater feeling than finally seeing some like at the end of the crushing and oppressive tunnel of challenge that is the Dark Souls experience.

Summoning in Dark Souls sees the player locate a sign on the ground while in human form and bring forth a warrior of legend to aid them in an upcoming battle.

Now not all of these chaps are made equal, with some arguably offering up little in the way of assistance besides being a meat shield, but then again, after being turned into a human glove puppet by so many of these bosses, having something to hide behind is actually it's own small blessing.

Still, some of these summons are absolute units! Take for example Iron Knight Tarkus who absolutely embarrasses the Iron Golem boss from the first game. You quite literally can stand back and do nothing but watch the Iron Golem get smashed into the ground like a tent peg, and you know what? it's bloody satisfying, to say the least.
