8 Video Game Crossovers That Made You Say WHAT?!

6. Fire Emblem And Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

When you take a step back and look at the almighty roster of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate it's very, VERY possible to be utterly overwhelmed by just how many different franchises are converging on one point.

You've got your Mega Mans, you've got your Pac Mans, your Snakes both Solid and the absolute viper that is the Dog from Duck Hunt, and it's probably the only game where you can pit Street Fighters Ryu against Final Fantasy's Cloud Strife. Each and every time a new fighter would be announced fans would have literally no idea what to expect and were summarily blown away, again and again, making this title a perpetual wave of "WHAT?!" that we loved to ride.

That being said, if there's one thing that Sakurai really wanted you to know (outside of the fact that he thinks Kirby is Nintendo's legit hard nut) is that he has most definitely heard of the Fire Emblem series, a fact that he chose to drill into your skull over and over across Ultimates release cycle as he pumped EIGHT CHARACTERS into the game.

Like, we get it, it's a good franchise but the level of "What?!" on show here only grew with each passing drop, to the point that by the time that the final Fire Emblem pack was announced, it was met with an eye roll and a headshake from all but the most diehard of fans.
