8 Video Game Deaths That Just Didn't Work

4. Any Death In Kingdom Hearts

It might seem a little strange to make such a sweeping statement, but seriously Death does not matter AT ALL in the Kingdom Hearts franchise. Sure you vanquish a few villains here and there, but when it comes to party members and allies, "tis but a flesh wound" and all that.

Look at the opening game in which all your pals on "Generic Holiday Island" are killed off only to be brought back at the end, or when Sora kills himself but gets brought back mere moments later, or the best of the best when Maleficent is brought back to life THROUGH OTHER CHARACTERS REMEMBERING SHE EXISTED.

In fact, things got so bad that when series creator Tetsuya Nomura was quizzed on who is actually dead amongst the cast that he said that he's not even sure that the concept of death even exists in the franchise!

What this has led to is a numbing of the fanbase entirely, wherein each supposed death of a beloved character is met with an apathetic shrug that they'll be back by the end of the title. A rather callous approach which means none of the send-offs we witness are actually ever emotional.

Jules Gill hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
